The Wilcam CP 65 is a collaboration between Douglas Trumbull, Geoff Williamson and Ed DeGulio. Together they created a modern camera for Trumbull’s 70mm Showscan® process. Called “an extraordinary camera” by legendary cinematographer Jack Cardiff BSC.

These cameras are self-blimped at 24 fps suitable for shooting dialogue without a blimp. Mags can be top or rear mounted like the Arricam.

Equipped with either 1000′ or 2500′ mags. The 2500′ mags allow for 22 minutes of continuous shooting, longer than any other 5-Perf 65mm camera in the world.

These camera feature brand new digital electronics and 2K video assist.

Three cameras, 17 x 1000′ magazines and 8 x 2500′ mags are available.

key features:

  • 5-perf 65mm format
  • Quiet at 24 fps
  • 1-72 fps in forward or reverse
  • Digital electronics from 2026
  • 2K Digital Video Assist
  • Rehoused Showscan lenses
  • Weight: 69lbs

Jack Cardiff about using the cameras:

“I have been using the camera for months. And you would think that with film moving through it at 60 frames per second there would occasionally be some scratches, but I can’t remember having a single problem.”
